Cookie policy – Nzgridironbets
A guide to NFL betting in New Zealand needs very little technology, and Nzgridironbets keeps it that way. This page lists the cookies and similar tools in use, the reasons for them and the ways of refusing or altering them. Cookies are small text files saved by a browser on a device; local and session storage entries and tracking pixels behave much the same.
The legal footing
Where cookies and comparable tools gather personal information, the Privacy Act 2020 applies, through the information privacy principles in section 22. Collection serves a lawful purpose tied to running the site (IPP 1), and the person is told what is gathered and why (IPP 3). Reasonable security safeguards protect the information (IPP 5), it is held no longer than needed (IPP 9), and it leaves New Zealand only on the terms of IPP 12. A choice made in the cookie banner can be altered whenever wanted.
Files the site needs
Some files are essential: they hold a session, share load between servers, shield forms from abuse and record the banner choice itself. They are set without asking. Session files vanish when the browser closes, and the recorded choice lasts no more than twelve months.
Preference and audience files
Preference files recall settings, such as the odds table last opened. Audience files count page views and show which pages get read, so content can be improved. Both kinds are set only once the banner has been answered. IP addresses are shortened before analysis, and no profile following behaviour from one site to another is built.
Files from other services
Embedded material from outside services, such as video, can set files of its own, and that provider’s privacy rules then apply as well. Objections to those files go to the provider. Nzgridironbets sets no advertising cookies for personalised ads without a clear banner choice.
Changing or withdrawing a choice
The "Cookie settings" link in the footer allows a choice to be changed or withdrawn at any time, and withdrawal acts for the future. Browsers also let their users block or delete cookies in privacy settings. Once the necessary files are deleted, the banner returns and some features may briefly stop working.
Complaints
A complaint about how personal information is handled can go to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner. The privacy policy of this site explains the handling in more detail.
